How to make online lessons efficient

Many people doubt if online lessons are efficient. When you have a regular class with a teacher at school, it seems that you are putting more effort into studies, but at home, being one-to-one with your laptop and your teacher on the screen… Is it the same efficient? Does it worth the money paid? Let’s find out!

Relate to online lessons as to in-person ones

study russianFirst, you should understand, that the online format is not that different from the in-person one. It is a normal lesson; just it doesn’t take place in a classroom. And this is how we recommend approaching the online format, to get the maximum out of it. You get the same knowledge, the teacher uses the same technics, just you don’t need to go anywhere.

Set a regular schedule

You may ask, but why again mention regularity? We’ve already talked about that in this article. But it’s a really important point, especially for the online format. For online lessons you even don’t need to leave your room, so students tend to reschedule or cancel their lessons quite often. Although a genuine personal emergency can happen anyone, it’s really important to study regularly and have a schedule. Regular lessons will help you to build a solid base, so you can progress steadily. Our recommendation is to have at least 2 lessons a week – this essential minimum will help you to improve your Russian skills.

Use the perks online platforms offer

Online lessons usually take place on an online platform. Here you can check the one we use. Online platforms have many useful features. The teacher can use smart online boards, add interesting learning materials, use a lot of additional web sources. You even can watch the record of your lesson afterward. So it’s really a sin not to use all the achievements the technical progress offers. Don’t get stuck with your good old WhatsApp, online format is much more than just a video connection.

Stable Internet connection is a must

Last but not least, you need to have a stable internet connection. It is important that both student and teacher have a good and stable Internet connection. It may seem, that this point is obvious, but if during the lesson your connection fails and you hear weird noises instead of your teacher’s voice, it will be a disappointment. So it’s always a good idea to check your connection before starting an online course. And if you notice, that the problem is not on your side, don’t hesitate to talk to your teacher about that, as it influences the quality of your lessons.
