First of all I have to say, I was surprised. Surprised because Russia and its people were extremely kind to me. Different obviously than one might think following media news, “criminal reports” or the stereotype of a russian. I felt safe all the time in Moskau such as Sankt Petersburg, received with open hearts by the people and intellectually challenged by it’s rich art.

For me travelling can’t be only enjoying on the surface like seeing the most beautiful spots and having the best parties.
Whenever I go abroad, I realized that I feel the need to go deeper. To feel the country and its soul. To learn how people think differently and to understand why. And the most valueble way for me lies in learning the foreign language. Studying russian is my key to the culture and every conversation I’ve had, eventhough often with a poor russian, contained gifts for my personal, spiritual and intellectual growth.

Thanks to many different people I discovered authors like Bulgakov, who I seemed to have fallen in love with, such as old soviet films of such an honest and delicate perspective of life, that inspire me as a filmmaker.

All of this inspirations enter myself to create something like a creative chaos inside me, which is necessary to understand what of this new culture might suite for myself as a ‘global citizen’ and what not.
After all, One thing remains clear for me: I’ll keep on learning russian until I will be able to write such a text in this language and I’ll go on travelling like that, because it feeds my soul incredibly.)))

Спасибо Россия!
