Autumn is coming and this is a great time to visit St. Petersburg to study Russian or just to travel. The weather in early autumn is usually comfortable and nice to explore local parks and nearby suburbs. Russian ports call this time “golden autumn”/осень золотая, and that’s for a good reason! Let’s check 3 best places to enjoy in autumn:

learn russianVyborg and Monrepos park

Vyborg is a very nice town situated not far from the border with Finland. The town has a long history, it belonged to several countries, including Finland and Sweden, and there you can find some nice pieces of old European architecture. One of the true highlights of the town is Monrepos park. It is a huge park with a rocky landscape and it´s a natural museum-reserve, that has also preserved some historical buildings, pavilions, and bridges.

learn russianSummer Garden

Situated in the very city center, this oldest park of the city is especially charming in autumn. Summer Garden went through reconstruction a few years ago and now it is a regular park with beautiful statues and fountains. Walk a bit around the park, have a cup of nice coffee in a local café, take a look at the Palace of Peter I, the city founder, and enjoy the perfect autumn tranquility and beauty. The great advantage of the park is it’s location – all the main city attractions are situated nearby.

learn russianPavlovsk Park

Pavlovsk is a beautiful St. Petersburg suburb, included in UNESCO list. The park is one of the largest in Europe and was inspired by a classic English landscape garden. The park includes 7 landscape zones and is especially inspiring in autumn. The park is built around Pavlovsk Palace, that belonged to Russian Emperor Paul I, and is also worth visiting. If Pavlovsk is not enough for you, you can also visit nearby Pushkin, with its beautiful park and stunning Catherine Palace.
